Notes from the Box

If You Had More Than One Home… Let’s be honest—if we had unlimited space, we’d probably design a dozen different homes. A lake house. A cabin in the woods. A city loft. A guest house. Maybe even a space just for experimenting with design ideas. That’s part of what makes Out of the Box...

What Makes Great Design… Stand Out? Behind every designer piece is intention. Years—sometimes decades—of refining proportions, perfecting materials, and developing a signature look that feels instantly recognizable. It’s not just about aesthetics—it’s about how a piece is built, how it functions, and how it holds up over time. At Out of the Box, we...

What’s Your Style—Really? If someone asked you to define your style, would you know what to say? Most people don’t—and that’s completely normal. Take a look around your home. Art That Tells a Story Some pieces don’t just decorate a space—they carry meaning. Kuna molas are one of those art forms. The movement of steam rising from a cup of coffee. The textures, colors, and patterns we pass by every day without even realizing it. Art...

Beyond the Big Names Most people recognize the major names in home design. Brands like Ralph Lauren, Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn, and West Elm have become household staples. They’re trusted. Recognizable. Easy to find. But they’re only part of the story. At Out of the Box, we spend a lot of time looking beyond...

When Natural Light Isn’t Enough Winter has a way of reminding us just how much we rely on light. Shorter days, long nights—and even with snow reflecting brightness outside, it rarely feels like enough once you’re indoors. That’s where great lighting comes in. At Out of the Box, we’ve recently brought in a large...

A Curated Look at What We Love Right Now Every now and then, we like to do something a little different. Instead of highlighting categories or trends, we turn to the people who know our inventory best—our team. The result? A collection of pieces that reflect real taste, real personality, and a true mix...
